Mormon Church-owned Deseret News declines ads, but not ad revenues,
for books about polygamy
It’s not surprising that Deseret News declines ads for books about polygamy. Unlike The Salt Lake Tribune, Deseret News is owned by the Mormon Church.
What may surprise you is that when the Tribune runs an ad for a book about polygamy, the advertiser pays the same rate it would pay if the ad ran in both papers. Not only that. Deseret News still takes its higher-than-50%-cut.
