Hilarious

If you read only one book on polygamy, this should be the one. It is very honest about the dark side of polygamy while also being so hilarious and fun to read that you can't put it down. We really enjoyed her insight into what really happens behind closed doors. There's so much more to this topic than you've heard. This book was a refreshing change from the other books we had read on polygamy which present important facts in such a depressing way that it's hard to read. This one teaches you a lot in an entertaining way. Who would have thought that in a male dominated group, women really did have a lot of control!

—Joleneon, September 1, 2015
I loved how she didn't leave out all the weird brainwashing that goes on in the LDS Church and offshoot religion she joined. It blows your mind that there is actually crazier things they do than the out-in-the-open weirdo-ness all ready going on. The most stupid beliefs are hidden from the public. I guess if you get in to it so far, then they bring out the real crazy brainwashing. It's very sad. Keep track of your brain power people!

Her writing style was great and I felt the book did a great job of shedding light on a topic many don't understand.

This book opened on a wry humorous note and got funnier as the story unfolded. It illustrated the bizarre and absurd nature of polygamy. I would recommend this book and this author to anyone interested in studying the behavior of this lifestyle.

Title is misleading
—imhoon, August 26, 2015
This is a serious book about a serious problem. I'm glad I didn't let the title cause me to pass over this book.

She really "Trumpted" it
—Anonymous, July 24, 2015
She reminds me a little of Trump. Not afraid to call a spade a spade.

Not Big Love
—Anonymous, July 22, 2015
Funny sort of; anyway. Not the HBO's Big Love version exactly.

An open and honest account

of the author's personal
experience with polygamy
—Jill P, July 17, 2015
Well written and honest account of polygamous marriage that is advised under the guise of religious doctrine.

Glimpse into mind control
—plenty of research b4, June 8, 2015
The author is brave to share her time in a religious cult. Believing in god is fine but when it becomes about making it up as you go along, then it's a problem. Thank god she and her husband woke up and finally claimed their dignity. Polygamy is not good. It doesn't work to the benefit of most anyone involved. Read her story and you'll agree.

Fabulous!
—Anonymous, April 7, 2015
This woman has such courage and I felt it through the screen on my kindle. Here's to Joanne Hanks and to Steve Cuno for a beautiful book and love that leaps from the pages!

Best polygamy book

I've read a bunch of books on polygamy, this one by far has been my favorite. A no-nonsense and frank account without the author asking for sympathy.

The book provides an interesting, first-hand perspective into polygamy. I enjoyed Joanne's writing style enough that it was an easy read. The title was a bit off-putting but that might just be my inner church-lady showing.
